LEONARD
Martin J., 83, of Toms River, died Wednesday April 23, 2014, at home. He owned More-Light by Lenny and Ray in Middletown, NJ before working as the Sales Manager for Krell Lighting in Norwood, NJ. He and his wife, Mary, ran Nana & Bucky's Day Care Center in Northvale, NJ for 13 years. Born in New York City, Lenny grew up in Rutherford, NJ graduate of St. Mary's High School, and resided in Northvale for 25 years before moving to Toms River in 2006. He served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, from 1951-1954. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Long Branch, NJ. Lenny enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and teaching the children at the day care center. He is predeceased by his siblings, Teresa McQuillan & Hubert Leonard. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Mary P. (Capron) Leonard; daughter, Maureen Garner-Polunas and her husband Robert Polunas of Toms River; three brothers, John of Chatham, NJ, Patrick of Monroe Township, NJ and Thomas of Wayne, NJ. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Gillespie of Dallas, GA, and Agnes McNeilly of Berkeley Heights, NJ, and two grandchildren, Dan Garner and James Polunas. Visitation is Sunday 1-5 PM with a 3 PM service at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd, Manchester, NJ. Interment is Monday 11:30 AM at Brigadier Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
