PEQUANNOCK — Services were held for Michael A. Acocella, 85, of the Pompton Plains section of this community, who died on Thursday, February 14, 2013.

Born in Irvington, Mr. Acocella lived in North Arlington and Clifton before moving to Pompton Plains eight years ago. He was a carpenter for E&R Co., Jersey City, before retiring. Previously, he was the owner of the Acocella Construction Co., Clifton. He was a member of the Carpenters & Joiners Union, Local 254, in Edison. And, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Services were Saturday at the Allwood Funeral Home, Clifton, followed by Mass at Queen of Peace R.C. Church, North Arlington. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations may be sent to Queen of Peace R.C. Church.

Mr. Acocella is survived by his daughters, Michele Acocella of Nutley, and Donna Polizzi of Wyckoff; his brother, Pat of Brick; his sisters, Marie Sabak of Clifton, and Doris Perri of Wayne; and three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Violet Scialampo; and his sister, Carmela Torrella.
