Michael C., 91, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 of natural causes. He was born in Providence, RI and moved to Union City, NJ as a child.
Michael was the son of Daisy (nee Giosi) and Carlo. Brother of Joseph, Anthony, Thomas and Rose.
He attended Emerson High School in Union City, NJ and upon graduation entered the United States Army during WWII. He served in the 164th Infantry Americal division in the South Pacific and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He maintained lifelong friendships with army buddies John Batafarano and Joe Cece. He married Doris Scacchetti in 1948 and raised five children, Michael, Thomas, Nanda, Mark and Paul who pre-deceased him on 9/11.
He retired with Doris in Montvale, NJ after working for almost 40 years at Turner Construction Company, NYC.
Doris predeceased him in 2010. He also has four grandchildren: Mark and Danielle (children of Mark and Diane) Julia and Daria (children of Paul and Susan).
Mike loved his family and the Sunday dinners in Montvale where everyone was crammed into a too small dining room laughing and talking. Everyone liked to watch him get up from the table and invariably bump his head on the chandelier uttering the words SOB under his breath. We laughed. He will be sorely missed.
