Morris Zysblat passed away Monday after a brief illness. Born in Offenbach, Germany in February 1913, Morris was educated in Hanover before immigrating to the United States in 1938. Upon arriving to the US, Morris and his father started a business where they bought used clothing to tear into wiping rags for sale to service stations. When sold in the late 1950s, it was one of the largest enterprises of its kind in the country.
Later, Morris ran Paterson Clothing Export Company and was the exclusive distributor of Levi Strauss products in West Germany and France. Throughout that time, he was also an active member of the New Jewish Life Club in Paterson and Congregation B'nai Israel in Fair Lawn.
Despite retiring more than forty years ago, Morris never slowed down. He was an early adopter in every sense of the term: one of the first home users with a personal computer, he began day-trading stocks in the 1990s and continued for the rest of his life. His trading exploits were the subject of articles in several newspapers and on CNBC. Morris (then 87) was also featured alongside several younger (but no more fashionable) men in the New York Times Magazine piece, "Lads and Their Pads," a tribute to stylish bachelor pads.
Through last week, he kept his mind sharp by reading three newspapers a day, as well as chronicling the more than 1,000 books he had read during the past 10 years.
Morris was married to the late Joan Stern for 49 years before her death in 1995 and is survived by his sister, Anna Mannes, his children, Claire Beslow and her husband, Ed, and William Zysblat and his wife, Laura, and his grandchildren, Brian, David and Steven Beslow and Juliette Zysblat.
Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 West), Fair Lawn, NJ. Burial will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.

Dear Claire and Bill,
As theExecutive Director of Classic Residence for its first 11 years, I knew and loved your father for a long time. Last year, he promised to invite me to his 100th birthday party and I was looking forward to attending. He was a remarkable man and I truly enjoyed our annual summer lunch at Classic. He was very proud of his family and served as an incredible role model. My deepest sympathy at your loss.
Sincerely,
Arlyne Berzak
