Peter Albert Cocoziello of Cedar Grove died on Friday, Sept. 14 at his home. He was 88.

Born on Jan. 29, 1924 in Montclair, he was one of seven children.
In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving time in Pearl Harbor, the Marshall Islands and Aleutian Islands before departing to Guam, Saipan, Quaziland, Iwo Jima and Okinawa Japan.
He was known by all as extraordinarily devoted to his family and friends and was considered as "the man amongst all men — admired by many and loved by even more."
He was an entrepreneur and worked very hard in the real estate industry, retiring at the age of 82 from his company Consult Realty.
As a sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching the New York Giants and New York Yankees. He also loved sharing a glass of wine and a dish of pasta with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander Cocoziello and Antoinette Ruggiero-Cocoziello; his sisters, Josephine and Theresa; and his brothers, John and Alexander.
He is survived by his sisters, Josephine Caputo of Nutley and Yolanda Ferraro of Manchester; his brother-in-law, Peter Ferraro; his children, Peter J. Cocoziello of Oldwick, Paul Cocoziello of New York City, N.Y. and Maryann Cocoziello of Madison; and his daughters-in-law, Sharon (wife of Peter) and Laura (wife of Paul). He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren, Dylan Harry, Peter John, Daniel and Alexander Cocoziello; Thomas J., Jessica and Jamie Centanni, along with a loving great-grandson, Peter Lorenzo Cocoziello.
A visitation took place on Monday at Caggiano Memorial Home in Montclair. Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Montclair on Tuesday, followed by an entombment at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery and Mausoleum in Upper Montclair.
