PEQUANNOCK — Services were held for Robert M. Popek, 92, of Clifton, who died on Sunday, September 30, 2012. He was the father of Janet Di Palma of the Pompton Plains section of this community.
Born in Garfield, Mr. Popek moved to Clifton in 1947. He worked at Fairchild Laboratories, Clifton. Previously, he was a self-employed professional photographer. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a founder of the Concerned Families of Greystone Park and a member of the Greystone Park Association. Also, he was a member of the Clifton Garden Club. He was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, Clifton, where he was a member of the Prime Timers.
Services were Friday at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, Clifton, followed by Mass at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Greystone Park Association, 12 Mount Meadow Way, Morris Plains, NJ 07950.
Mr. Popek is survived by his other daughter, Barbara Giarmo of Paramus; and a grandson.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine Lyding; his son, Robert; and his sisters, Stella Popek, Lillian Popovich, and Mildred Parichuk.
