Hawthorne — Robert W. Long, 68, died Feb. 4.

Born in Hackensack, he lived in Elmwood Park 19 years before moving to Hawthorne 18 years ago. He was the superintendent of building and grounds for the |Borough of Elmwood Park for 25 years retiring in 2004. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the Navy. His life passion was martial arts. He owned the Bob Long School of Self Defense, Lodi, was a 10th Degree Grand Master of Martial Arts and was an inductee in the Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

He was the husband of Annette; father of Brian and his wife, Denine, of Saddle Brook and Melissa Burke and her husband, Robert, of Elmwood Park; |grandfather of five; and brother of Maureen Kustos and her husband, Laszlo, of Wall.

Funeral was Feb. 7. Arrangements by Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, Inc., Elmwood Park.
