OAK RIDGE — Services were held for Ronald "Ray" Hughes, 84, of this community, who died on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
Mr. Hughes was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a steamfitter with New York Local 638 and was a life member with more than 50 years of experience of Enterprise Association of Steamfitters Local 638. Also, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1945 to 1948, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving from 1951 to 1954, during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 423, Milton, and a life member of Milton Fire Co. No. 1 as well.
Services were Monday at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, Newfoundland.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his sons, John of Rutherford, Richard of Oakland, and Clifford of Mt. Arlington; his daughter, Cheryl of Oak Ridge; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Matilda Giardino; and his parents, Emma and Raymond.
