CARLSTADT-Salvatore "Red" Picinich of Carlstadt passed away Sunday, Jan. 30. He was 63 years old. Mr. Picinich was born in Croatia and came to the United States in 1963. He was a former resident of Hoboken.
He was a baker at Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken since 1964 for the late Buddy Valastro Sr. and his son Buddy "The Cake Boss" Valastro. He was a dedicated employee of 45 years and received the Employee of the Century Award, which was presented to him at the 100th Anniversary of Carlo's Bakery. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. He loved politics and sports, such as soccer and fishing.
Mr. Picinich is predeceased by sister Domenica Picinich. He is survived by wife Lucille Picinich (nee Palmieri) of Carlstadt and children Danielle Picinich Reinoso and her husband Juan and Salvatore Louis Picinich, all of Carlstadt. He is also survived by grandchildren Daniel John Reinoso and Luca Salvatore Reinoso and siblings Tony Picinich of Fairview, John Picinich of Canada, Elena Zgaljardic of Astoria, NY and Maria Janjetovic of Clifton.
On Feb. 4, relatives and friends attended the funeral from the Kimak Funeral Home of Carlstadt then the funeral Mass from St. Joseph's R.C. Church of East Rutherford. The services were followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery of North Arlington.
