    - Dana Peckworth

Samuel S., II, passed away March 24, 2013 at The Valley Hospital after a short illness.
He was born May 4, 1929 in Paterson, NJ and lived in Ridgewood and vicinity for most of his life. He attended the Peddie School for 2 years, returning to Ridgewood High School to graduate in the class of 1947. While at RHS, he played varsity football and baseball.

He then joined The Valley Hospital transport staff where he worked until 1994. Sam was a longtime member of the Ridgewood Kiwanis Club, serving as president from 1964-65. His 1953 marriage to Virginia Anderson of Ridgewood ended in divorce.
He is survived by his sister, Sallie Herman Bailey of Mesa, Arizona and 3 married children, Samuel William Walstrum II (Donna), Mary Jane Kearns (Steve), and James Halsey Walstrum (Catherine). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Victoria Claire Walstrum, Jessica Nicole Walstrum, Samuel Franklin Walstrum, Jonathan Samuel Kearns, Sarah Pavla Kearns and Rachel Spencer Walstrum.
