Hasbrouck Heights — Silvano John Mion, 81, died March 13.

Born in Union City, he was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Before retiring, he was a concrete finisher for the Bricklayers & Concrete Finishers Union Local 4 in Fairfield. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen Flying Club, which he joined after earning his private pilot's license. He was a world traveler, an avid Yankee fan and a hard-working family man.

He husband of Joan T. Mion; father of Barbara Sproviero and her husband, Dave, and Karen Russ and her husband, Jay, all of Brick, Robert Mion of Hasbrouck Heights and Lynne Belous and her husband, Gregg, of Wood-Ridge; brother of the late Mary Roman; and grandfather of three.
