Theodore "Ted" Tretin, 75, died Aug. 17, at Franciscan Oaks Health Center in Denville following an extended illness.
Born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, he had lived in Queens, N.Y. before moving to Montville 19 years ago.
Tretin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during peacetime.
He had owned and operated a yellow taxi cab in New York for many years and later worked as a private chauffeur for various companies, most recently, Data Logics in Totowa.
Tretin is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn (Benedetto) Tretin; two children, John Impenna, of West Milford, and Linda Parrinello and her husband, Salvatore, of Denville; a grandson, Salvatore John Parrinello; and his faithful companion, Bentley. He was predeceased by his seven elder brothers.
Services were held at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church followed by burial at Locust Hill Cremator in Dover. Arrangements were conducted by the Stephen J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service. Memorials donations can be made to
