VIRGENS
Victor E., 90, of Melbourne, FL and Greenwood Lake, N.Y. formerly a long time resident of Ridgewood, NJ. Victor was a member of the Ridgewood Fire Department and a life member of the Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Association. He served on the Ridgewood Board of Adjustment for 7 years and held the positions of chairman and Vice chairman. He graduated from SUNY Maritime College, Ft. Schuyler, NY. Victor served in the Merchant Marines in World War II and was called up to active duty in the Naval Reserve for the Korean Conflict and retired after 20 years of service. His Business career spanned fifty years marketing valves to the industrial, petro-chemical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning industries. He was past president of Mechanical Products Warehousing, Hickory Supply Corp. and the Virgens Agency. He was an associate member of the N.J. Chapter of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers and past President of the N.J. Sales Representative Association. He was past President of the Lakeside Community Club in Hewitt, NJ, Carlstadt Active Turners and the NJ, District Council Member of the American Turners. Locally he was an active member of the Indian River Kiwanis Club. Victor Sponsored the Red Cross blood drive at the Indian River Colony Club. He was on the fund raising committee of the Brevard Red Cross and a Red Cross Volunteer at the Patrick Air Force Base 45th Medical Facility and a member of American Legion Post 163. He was past President of the Men's Club of the Advent Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Ursula, his sons Bruce and Ray, his daughter-in-law Jane and his grandchildren Alisa, Ryan and Vanessa. He was predeceased by his sister Emilie. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
