Walter Raymond, age 90 of Teaneck, NJ, formerly of Minneapolis, MN died on Monday, May 13th, 2013 at his home.
Beloved husband of the late Marion Eleanor Rekucki. Devoted Father of: Bart Rekucki of Ridgewood, NJ; Susan Rekucki Houck of Ellicott City, MD; Carol Rekucki of Englewood, NJ; Gary Rekucki of Washington Township, NJ and Laura Collins of Gaithersburg, MD. Cherished son of the late Bartlomiej and Mary Rekucki of Minneapolis. Dear Brother of Katherine Alexandria Czajkowski, Mary Alice Rekucki, Gladys Martin, Agnes Litfin, Frank Rekucki, Alexander Chester (Chet) Rekucki, Gerald Rekucki and Delphine Haley. Loving grandfather of Bart, Tucker, Jack, Kelly, Will, Dylan, Luke, Olivia and Grace.
Walter was a 1945 graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and a WWII Merchant Marine veteran; he also attended the University of Minnesota Graduate School. Locally, he was a member of the BPOE Elks in Ridgefield Park, a parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bogota, a supporter of Ridgewood HS Athletics, an avid golfer recognized in the "Hole In One" community and most vividly an instant friend to all he met. His humor, intelligence, integrity and love for family and friends won the admiration and respect of all.
Prior to retirement, Walter was Vice President of Frederic R. Harris, Inc. and Manager of the New Orleans office that provided consulting and engineering services to shipping ports all along the Gulf Coast - New Orleans, Houston, Mobile, Pascagoula and Florida ports. Over his professional career, he also provided engineering services for Raymond International Builders, Inc., the Honeywell Company in Minneapolis, MN and the Montgomery Ward Company in Menands, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, May 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 22nd, 10:45am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, One Passaic Street, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. ALL TO MEET AT CHURCH. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
