George, of Mahwah, NJ, beloved husband and best friend of Margaret Mary (nee Seman) Gera for 56 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Born in Banske, Slovakia, to the late John and the late Anna Gera, he lived most of his life in Mahwah. After graduating high school, he spent time in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War on the Fletcher-class destroyer USS Bearss. He later attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and received a BA. George was employed by Avon Products for over 25 years. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing, wood carving and building and flying model airplanes. He was a member of St. Paul's Church in Ramsey, NJ, and served as an usher there for many years. Besides his wife Margaret, George is survived by his three daughters, Catherine DiRisio and her husband David, of Forked River, NJ, Donna Marozin, of Mahwah, and Christy Capone and her husband Valentino, of Mahwah. He is also survived by his sister Mary Dargay, of Trenton, NJ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other close friends. He was predeceased by his brother, John. The memory of George being the best husband and father a family could ever hope to have, will forever be kept in our hearts.
