Amos Beck December 9, 1932 - March 14, 2013 East Lyme - Amos Beck 80, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 9, 1932 in Gaskin, Florida. He was the son of the late Charles and Emma Beck, and the loving husband of Doris Mügge Beck. Amos Beck served admirably in the United States Air Force. He moved to Connecticut in 1969, and was employed at Electric Boat in Groton, working with nuclear submarines as an electrician. He continued as a licensed electrician in the Boston area. Amos Beck opened his own business in 1975, ABC Upholstery in Uncasville, and he continued working there until his death. He was a longstanding member of the Oxoboxo Lodge of Masons in Montville. Growing up on a farm in Florida, he worked the land at an early age and became an expert gardener and beekeeper. He was a master craftsman who loved to create, whether in the garden or at work. He believed in being industrious, and he was passionate about becoming an expert in various fields of interests. Amos was an avid reader and was dedicated to teaching others. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind four children, Catherine Beck Fuller of South Kingston, Rhode Island, Eric Amos Beck of Destin, Florida, Brian Christopher Beck of Las Vegas Nevada, Amy Eileen Picollo of Mesquite, Nevada; two step children, Denise Mügge Chabot and her husband Albert of Waterford, Christine Mügge Ladd and her husband James of Simsbury; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; his sister Opal Beck of Georgia. He was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Wayne Beck, brother Burl Beck, brother Eugene Beck and his former wife, Christine Holley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans Charities, 13550 E. Ramona Blvd. Baldwin Park CA 91706 Funeral Services will be held at the Thomas Neilan and Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic at 4:00 on March 23, 2013.
