Carl J. Kovalck June 27, 1930 - August 3, 2013 Danielson - Carl J. Kovalck, age 83, of Danielson passed away Saturday at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Helen (Bratovich) Kovalck. Mr. Kovalck was born in Coalton, WV on June 27, 1930, son of the late Joseph and Edith (Belan) Kovalck. He served for two years in Korea. Mr. Kovalck worked for ten years at Consolidated Coal in Owings, WV. He helped build the former Knox Glass Company in Dayville where he worked for 35 years until his retirement at age 63 in June of 1993. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #21 and the VFW Post #4908. He enjoyed spending time with his family playing cards and games. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Besides his wife Helen he is survived by his children, Laurie Kiley and husband Jay of Mystic, Cindy Wentzell and husband Paul of Sandown, NH, Joe Kovalck Sr. and wife Linda of Brooklyn and Chuck Kovalck of Danielson; grandchildren, Joe Kovalck Jr., Steve Kovalck and Lily Wentzell; brother Mike Kovalck and wife Cathy of Enterprise, WV; sisters, Phyllis Tichenor of OH, Edith Vincent and husband Bob of Shinnston, WV, Marjorie McCauley and husband Gary of OH, Doris Shaffer and husband Richard of Shinnston, WV and sister-in-law Margaret Kovalck of ME. He was predeceased by his brothers, John Kovalck and Robert (Gene) Kovalck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Church, Danielson. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. in Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson.
