Elizabeth Ann Dickson Oct. 31, 1925 - Jun. 10, 2014 WINDHAM - Elizabeth Ann Dickson, 88, of Douglas Manor in Windham, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2014. Elizabeth "Betty" was born on Oct. 31, 1925, a Halloween baby as she often referred to herself. She was born to Elsie and Harvey Q. Howe at Hartford Hospital. Betty (or Betty Boop, as she was known to close friends in her later years) graduated from Putnam High School in 1944. She worked at a variety of jobs over the years. She wound up her working career at Mansfield Training School, serving as an instructor to people with disabilities for 16 years. She retired from there in the early 1980s. In her twenties, Betty really enjoyed motorcycle riding and loved her Indian bike. She rode along with her husband and "Bert's Riders." Other interests included woodworking, stained glass, sewing, quilting, camping, music, reading, and crafts of all kinds. Betty always had pets and loved animals. She especially loved her succession of kitties she had for most of her life. She also loved her son and daughter-in-law's pet Papillon Snoopy, or "Snoop" as he was affectionately called. Betty was an avid member of the Moose Club in Willimantic for many years. Betty was predeceased by her husband Elvin Dickson, who passed away in October 1991. She was married to "Dickson" for 23 years. Betty is survived by her three sons; Sheldon L. Adams Jr., William E. Adams and his wife Susan of Willimantic, and Steven D. Adams and his wife Susan of Chaplin. She is also survived by her brother David Howe Sr. of Abington. Her grandchildren include Todd Goulet of Willimantic, Daniel Adams and Nicole Charron of Mansfield, Emily Adams and Allan Trudeau of Lisbon, and Brendan Adams of Massachusetts.
