Frank Falcone Died - May 12, 2014 NORWICH - Frank Falcone, 94, caring father and beloved husband of Harriett Falcone for 59 years, passed away peacefully on Monday at Backus Hospital. Frank graduated from NFA in 1937 and chose a job in a tire shop. After serving his country as Staff Sgt. in the US Air Corp for 4-1/2 years, he eventually went into his own business, which grew to be one of the largest tire dealers in the area. He sold the business in 1981 after a successful career of more than 30 years and was able to enjoy many wonderful years of retirement with his family and friends. He and his wife travelled extensively to many countries in the world including most of Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, Africa, Israel and most of the islands. He also enjoyed Florida where he owned a home for over 26 years. He was very active during his life and involved in many organizations over the years. He was a Life Time Member of the American Legion, the Third & Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and the Elks. He was a Long Time Member of the Italian Heritage and Cultural Assoc. In 1994 he was voted as Italian of the Year by the Italian Heritage Assoc. and in 1996 he was chosen the Italian of the year by the American Legion. Frank also served on the Board of Directors at the former Hartford National Bank for a number of years and Board of Director at the Backus Hospital and served as an Honorary Corporator. He was a Long Time Parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Norwich, where he was married to the former Harriet Krzesicki in October of 1947. He served on many committees of the church and recently served as one of the trustees. Frank also enjoyed playing tennis during his retirement years continuing to play into his late eighties. He and his wife also enjoyed dancing, regularly joining many of their dancing friends at the VFW and Moose Home. He is survived by his three children; Raymond and his wife Zulma, Donalda Dean and her husband Werth, and Teresa Ajamian and her husband Gary, three grandchildren; Valerie Falcone, Thomas and Nicole Ajamian, one sister; Antoinette Gwiazdowski and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Harriett in 2007, one sister; Rose Amodeo and his brother; Ralph Falcone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Church, 120 Cliff St., Norwich, CT meeting directly at church. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, May 14th from 6 P.M. - 8 P.M. at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT.
