Jarnell Curtis Harrell Obituary
Jarnell Curtis Harrell May 29, 1990 - Aug. 10, 2014 OAKDALE - Jarnell Curtis Harrell, born on May 29, 1990 at the Backus Hospital in Norwich, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Jarnell is survived by his parents, Joe and Martha Harrell; brother Tyrone; sister Gina; aunt Karen and uncle Bobby; aunt Liz and uncle Ken (Rev. Brevard); aunt Felicia; grandmother Anna Harrell; several cousins and many more uncles and aunts. After receiving his high school diploma, Jarnell pursued his passion for the Marine Corps and enlisted on April 13, 2009. As a faithful Marine, he served as a Automotive Maintenance Technician and later deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal. Following his service, Jarnell was blessed with a career position in the advertising department at the Williams Lea Company; he was overjoyed to be a part of the Williams Lea team and had devoted his spare time to earning his Bachelor's degree in graphic design. Jarnell loved to barbeque on the grill during summer weekends and never hesitated to help his family with their wonderful new home in Oakdale. He was always devoted to the needs of his family and did whatever he could for them. He loved the Lord and worshipped at the Church of God in Christ in Groton led by Pastor Rev. Rucker. Jarnell will be forever in our hearts and we will always miss his loving kindness and bright smile. Jarnell's family will receive friends for a calling hour on Saturday, August 16 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Service, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. A Funeral Service will be held at noon, followed by burial with Military Honors at Comstock Cemetery in Uncasville. In lieu of flowers, Jarnell's family asks that donations be made in his name to the Church of God in Christ, 94 North Street, Groton, CT 06340 or the Union Baptist Church, 125 Mt. Pleasant St., Norwich, CT 06360.
