Joseph D. Foy, Jr. Feb. 11, 1932 – Jul. 1, 2014 GRISWOLD - Joseph D. Foy, Jr., 82, of Geer Road passed away Tuesday July 1, 2014, at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, CA, while attending the Army's First Infantry Division Reunion. He was born February 11, 1932, in Norwich, son to the late Mary Ella (Oakes) and Joseph D. Foy, Sr. On October 4, 1952, at St. Mary's Church in Jewett City he was married to Teresa I. (Dokton) Foy. She predeceased him in 1994. Joseph was a 1950 graduate of Griswold High School and organized many class reunions. He honorably served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He then re-enlisted in the US Army and later served in the Vietnam War. He rose to the rank of Sergeant Major retiring after nearly 30 years of service. He also owned Foy's Upholstery with his wife. He was a member of the VFW Post #10004 and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Jewett City. He is survived by his four daughters Deborah Loser of Canterbury, Pearl Newcomb of Deep River, Elizabeth Foy of Sterling, and Patricia McCallum of Jewett City, a brother William Foy of Jewett City, and nine grandchildren. Calling hours will be held 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490 Voluntown Road Jewett City, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Mary's Church, Jewett City. The funeral will assemble at church. Interment will follow in the Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold. For online condolences please go to www.gagnepiechowski.com
