Walter A. Davignon July 12, 1926 - February 13, 2013 Plainfield - Walter A. Davignon, age 86, of Plainfield, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday February 13, 2013 at the Wm W. Backus Hospital. He was born on July 12, 1926, a son to the late Alexander and Ernestine (Scott) Davignon of Taftville. He was the beloved husband to Frances (Lambert) Davignon to whom he was married to for 61 years. She survives him. Walter honorably served his country, within the United States Army, and was a 32 year member of the Connecticut National Guard. He worked as a contract change estimator at Electric Boat in Groton, retiring after 32 years of dedicated service. He was a charter member of the VFW Post#1004 in Jewett City and a communicant of St. Johns Church in Plainfield. In addition to his wife Frances, Walter is survived by his children, daughter Kim Davignon of Lisbon; and two sons, Kenneth Davignon of Jewett City and Kevin Davignon and his wife Michelle of West Haven and their daughter Alexa; as well a numerous brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by three older siblings, brother Leo Davignon and sisters Claire Rist and Doris Power. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at St. Mary Church in Jewett City at 11:00 A.M. A graveside service, with military honors, will follow at Pachaug Cemetery in Griswold. A calling hour will be held, prior to the church service from 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City, CT.
