David Paul Banahasky, 68, formerly of Parsons, Kan., died at 5:03 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, in Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla. He moved to Florida a year ago.

He was born November 3, 1945, in Finleyville, a son of Walter Joseph and Helen Dorothy Vibostek Banahasky.
Mr. Banahasky grew up in Finleyville and was a graduate of Monongahela High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969, serving in Vietnam.
Mr. Banahasky worked for Parsons Police Department, Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and then was a nurse at the veterans clinic in Parsons, until retirement.
On March 21, 1970, he married Sandy Sears in First United Methodist Church in Parsons. They later divorced.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Robert Ponce of Parsons; three grandchildren, Chris, Nick and Jaden Ponce of Parsons; a brother, Walter "Lenny" Banahasky Jr. of Finleyville; and two sisters, Jane Banahasky of Arizona and Karen Born of Finleyville.
A Mass was held Saturday, June 14, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Parsons.
