Edward J. Cushman, 89, of Canonsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
He was born December 17, 1924, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Andrew and Helen Goldbach Cushman.
Mr. Cushman lived his life in Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic and attended Canonsburg schools.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries, where he was an expeditor.
Mr. Cushman was a member of Canonsburg Senior Citizens, where he was an avid dartball player every Tuesday and Friday. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, walking and most especially spending time with his beloved family.
On November 22, 1952, he married Dorothy Kissella, who passed away November 3, 1999.
Surviving are a daughter, Denise Ann Adams of Houston; three sons, David Edward (Peggy) Cushman of Houston, and Donald Joseph Cushman and Daniel Paul Cushman, both of Canonsburg; four grandchildren, Daniel Marton, Jessica and Jenna Adams and Kristen Cushman; a brother, William Cushman; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are two brothers, Robert Cushman and James Hartman, and four sisters, Dorothy Kemis, Catherine Comfort, Ann Kelvington and Helen Gallo.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 26. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26, in St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
