Harry Brownlee Miller of Washington died Thursday, April 3, 2014, in Washington Hospital.He was born July 21, 1929, in West Middletown, a son of Robert and Mae Brownlee Miller and brother of Robert M. Miller, of whom all are deceased.Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth Briscoe Miller; a son, Harry S. Miller of Erie; and a daughter, Judy Miller of West Middletown. Also surviving are his close friends, Jim Zlamal and Dianne Maloy Bednarski.He was long grateful for his wonderful friends and neighbors on Cleveland Road, North Franklin Township.Mr. Miller served in the Korean War in the U.S. Navy on the USS Jarvis. He also served as a volunteer fireman with North Franklin Township for 40 years.Like his father, he was a licensed diesel mechanic. Most of his career was spent as a heavy equipment operator in the asphalt paving business. He was co-founder of Hillside Paving.Mr. Miller loved his pet dogs and, in his retirement years, enjoyed watching sports on television and working on antique cars.He was a life member of Covered Bridge Antique Car Club.He also enjoyed helping restore his daughter's home, the house in which he was born.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunda6, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 7, with the Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating. Burial will be private in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Mr. Miller requested no flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to North Franklin Fire Department, 565 Sylvan Drive, Washington, PA 15301, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
