James W. "Jim" Duffy, 82, of Washington, formerly of Crafton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Washington Hospital.
Mr. Duffy was born June 20, 1932, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Hugh and Marian Rose Duffy.
Following four years of service in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from Duquesne University and entered a career in pharmaceutical sales with Lederle, followed by surgical product sales with the 3M Company.
Mr. Duffy was a 15-year volunteer at Radio Information Services in Pittsburgh, where he read books and local news on air. A parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, Mr. Duffy also served as a lector for many years.
On June 7, 1958, in St. Philip Catholic Church, Crafton, he married Sarah "Sally" McMahon, who survives.
Also surviving are their four children, Jim Duffy Jr. of Venetia, Laura (John) Holsinger of Springfield, Va., Kathy (Tom) Kehner of Marietta, Ga., and Dan Duffy (Karl Casey) of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Stephen (Kristen) Kehner, Emily Kehner, Brian Kehner and Jack Holsinger.
He was most proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Duffy was the oldest of seven children. Also surviving are his siblings, Hugh (Pat) Duffy, Linda Duffy, Rosemary (Dorothy) Duffy and Dan (Patty) Duffy.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two siblings and their spouses, Kevin and Cookie Duffy and Ginny and Bob Schantz.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where a prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 2. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with the Rev. George Chortos as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
