Joseph W. Adamson, 81, of Waynesburg, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, in his home.

He was born May 17, 1933, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Alva W. and Martha L. Goslin Adamson.
Mr. Adamson worked as a repairman and lineman for the former Alltel Phone Co., retiring in 1995.
He also served in Pennsylvania National Guard and was a former volunteer fireman with Jefferson Volunteer Fire Co. He was a member of American Legion Post 954 in Jefferson, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461 and Bethel Park Sportsman Club.
Mr. Adamson was an avid bear and deer hunter. He enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was known for his grass mowing and enjoying Stroh's beer.
On June 19, 1954, he married Garaldine R. Turner, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four children, Scott Adamson of Waynesburg, Donald Adamson of Rices Landing, Holly Stallard and her husband, Bill, of Rices Landing and Tammy Adamson of Waynesburg; a granddaughter, Ashley Stevens (Jeff) of Memphis, Tenn.; a great-grandson, Gavin Michael Stevens; five brothers, Robert Adamson (Lesetta), James Adamson (Lawana) and Duane Adamson, all of Waynesburg, John Adamson (Linda) of Ocala, Fla., and Benjamin Adamson (Judy) of Ravenna, Ohio; and two sisters, Elizabeth J. Lemley of Waynesburg, and Betty L. VanDruff of Mt. Morris.
Deceased are twin daughters, who died in infancy; granddaughters Jane Lee and two other granddaughters in infancy; and two brothers, Charles Adamson and George Adamson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 5. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 954, Jefferson.
