Raymond "Butch" Plutch, 64, of Marianna, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, in Donnell House, Washington, surrounded by his family, after a six-year battle with cancer.He was born November 14, 1949, in Waynesburg, a son of Peter Francis and Helen Bercosky Plutch of Marianna.Mr. Plutch was a member of Marianna Christian Church for more than 50 years.He was a 1967 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School. After graduation he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, one year in Vietnam. He then served as a military policeman. After discharge from the Air Force, he graduated from the police academy in Frederick, Md. After his graduation, he served as a police officer in North Beach, Md., until he was injured. Later, he received an associates degree in business administration from Prince George's Community College in Maryland.In 1992, he returned to his hometown and became a disc jockey, known as "DJ Dreamz." He was a disc jockey for weddings and other events for the next 10 years. He enjoyed watching the Steelers and Penguins. He collected memorabilia of both teams.Surviving are a daughter, Liane, and a granddaughter, Lilly, both of Maryland; his loving partner for the last 22 years, Connie Cecil; a sister, Patricia Silver of Marianna; sisters-in-law Janet Plutch of Florida and Ellen Plutch of Marianna; stepchildren Steve (Karen) Cecil, Lisa Cecil and Jan (Travis) Cornell; six stepgrandchildren, Stefan, Mikaila, Tessa, Janae, George and Aadin; and several nieces and nephews.Deceased, in addition to his parents, are brothers Floyd, Robert and George; nephew Floyd Jr.; and brother-in-law Samuel Silver.A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Marianna American Legion. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Horn Cemetery, Marianna.Donations may be made to Ellen Plutch, Attention Liane Plutch, 63 Topsail Lane, Marianna, PA 15345, to help defray the cost of the services.
