Thomas M. Smith, 81, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in his home, with his family by his side.

He was born July 13, 1933, in McDonald, a son of Daniel and Rachel Bruce Smith.
Mr. Smith was a 1951 graduate of Cecil High School. He worked for J&L Steel on Pittsburgh's South Side from 1952 until his retirement in 1996.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 902, Houston, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, Canonsburg.
Mr. Smith was an avid Steelers fan and train collector. He belonged to Train Collectors Association and Lionel Train Collectors.
On October 22, 1953, he married Emma Jean Hall, who died September 6, 2010.
Surviving are four children, Thomas G. Smith (Cheryl) of McDonald, Pamela J. Pavcic (John) of Canonsburg, Timothy E. Smith (Diane) of Houston and Wayne E. "Wes" Smith of McDonald; six grandchildren, Brennan (Melanie), Tyler, Shane, Marisa, Emma and Madyson Smith; and a sister, Eleanor Jean Page of Castle Shannon.
Deceased are five sisters, Marian Shimek, Jane McKissick, LaVerne Livingston, Betty Albertini and Delores Rumbaugh; and six brothers, Daniel, James, John, William, Richard and George Smith.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, August 11, with the Rev. Craig Kephart officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, where he will receive full military rites.
