BUTLER, DR. CHANDRE, 37
The Guest Book is expired.
Ocala - Chandre Butler was the first child born to Cleve Butler and Christanel Dillard Butler on January 14, 1976, in Rochester, New York. At the age of one month old the family relocated to Delray Beach, Florida where there were no blood relatives but there they united with a beautiful church family and formed many long lasting relationships.
Chandre received his early academic training in Sunrise Academy, a private school in Boynton Beach, Florida until moving to Ocala, Florida in the 5th grade. It was at Dr. N. H. Jones Elementary School in Ocala, Florida that Chandre's 5th grade teacher realized he was academically gifted and upon his recommendation he was placed in Gifted classes. From that time forward, Chandre never looked back but soared to higher heights and deeper depths as he matriculated in his academic pursuits. He attended Osceola Middle School and Forest High School in Ocala, Florida and graduated from high school in June, 1994. Chandre was the first student commanding officer of the newly formed ROTC at Forest High in his Senior year. After graduation, Chandre received multiple scholarships including the Prescription for Success Scholarship that paid for his Associate of Arts Degree from Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida.
As Chandre grew and matured, he began to grow spiritually under the guidance of his parents and church officials in the Florida East Coast Diocese. He received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at an early age in Delray Beach, Florida under the pastorate of Dr. Semmie Z. Taylor. Chandre was a dedicated member of the church, a member of the Young Folks and Friends Union and a Sunday Bible School Teacher. He was appointed as a Trial Deacon and served the church faithfully in Orlando, Florida and Ocala, Florida. He served as the Sunday Bible School Superintendent for the Florida East Coast Diocese. Chandre became interested in music and began playing the bass and lead guitar. He was very instrumental in assisting other young people to find their places in the church by teaching them how to play musical instruments. Both young and old were always glad to associate with Chandre.
Dr. Chandre Butler transitioned from this life on Monday, September 2, 2013, in Gainesville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Isaiah and Earnestine Butler.
