Ocala - Charles Ralph Green, 71, passed away peacefully Monday, January 6, 2014 surrounded by family and friends at Legacy House, under the care of Hospice of Marion County.
Charlie was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to the late Esther and Ralph Green on November 1, 1942. He graduated in 1961 from Sheboygan North High School, where he was a top athlete in both football and basketball. In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Corp., and served for three years. He was a longtime member of Sheboygan Elks Lodge #299 and a founding member of the Elks National Foundation. Charlie was most proud of his 20-year career with The Prudential Insurance Co., where he worked as a district manager and received numerous awards for outstanding sales and service. He retired on medical disability in 1986.
Though he left Wisconsin, he heartily continued to root for the Green Bay Packers every Sunday, either from his favorite table at Beef O'Brady's or his favorite chair at home. Those who knew him were not surprised he held on until the Packers completed their 2013 season.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sharon Traurig Green; his sons Richard Green (Amy) of Lutz, FL, and Brett Green of Clearwater, FL; his daughter, Gina Davidson (Larry) of Tallahassee, FL; his brothers, Frank Green and Don Green (June) of Crivitz, WI, and Robert Green (Dorothy) of Ocala, FL; his sisters, Nancy Moland (Don) of Ocala, FL, and Ruth Green of Sheboygan, WI. He also leaves behind four grandchildren he loved dearly, Ty and Jillian Davidson, and Noah and Ella Green, and lifelong friends, John and Carol Muehlbauer. Special thanks to Norman Anderson, MD, and Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute for taking such great care of him in recent years.
Those who were close to him knew of his steadfast commitment as a husband, father, and friend. He had tremendous faith in God and is no doubt in His loving arms.
A memorial service will be held for Charlie at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Joy Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7045 SW 83rd Place, Ocala, FL, 34476. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice of Marion County:
