Ocala - Darrell P. Bucklen, 74, passed away unexpectedly June 29, 2014 at a family reunion in Richlands, Virginia. He was born there on May 31, 1940, the last of 13 children.
Darrell served in the United States Army. He was an avid FSU fan and enjoyed watching and going to the games with family. He also enjoyed camping in the mountains, woodworking and his daily walks at Jervey Gant with his walking buddies.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bertie C and Mamie (Bales) Bucklen and six brothers and three sisters.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: two sons, Darrell (Rose) Bucklen, Jeff (Leslie) Bucklen of Ocala; three grandchildren, Thomas (Stephanie) Petty of Tampa, Megan and Blair Bucklen of Ocala; his partner of 26 years, Florence Emmert of Ocala; brothers: O.B. (Margaret) Bucklen of Virginia, Jerry (Mamie) Bucklen of New York; and sister Peggy Tester of St. Cloud.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life for Darrell on July 19, 2014, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Moose Lodge at 7165 SE Maricamp Rd. in Silver Springs Shores.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Darrell's memory to Sheltering Hands Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 843, Williston, FL 32696.
