EUGENE PAUL, 86
Ocala - Eugene Paul Gabbert, 86, of Ocala, formerly from Prior Lake, MN, passed peacefully at The Villages Hospice Home on December 9, 2013. Born to the late Paul and Clara Gabbert on June 17, 1927. He was preceded in death by beloved; sister, Dorothy Arf, sons, Steve and Timothy, brothers-in-law, Marvin Arf and Brian Letellier.
Gene lived a full vibrant life after graduating from North High School. He began his career in Ophthalmology at Benson Optical as an Optician and worked many years as a Certified Ophthalmic Technologist at Ophthalmology, PA. He then become a Medical Liaison at the office of Dr. Richard Lindstrom. Gene was a Past-President and member of the Optician, MN Contact Lens and American Contact Lens Society, Also a member of the VFW and The Moose Lodges in Ocala. After retiring, he moved with his wife, Darlene, to Florida. He enjoyed golfing, Ocean fishing, poker, reading and Became more computer savvy. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he made many return trips to Minnesota to hunt deer, ducks and geese. Several trips to Alaska and Canada to fish for Salmon, halibut.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Darlene; son, David (Diane); daughter, Beth Ann; grandchildren, Sean, Katie, Lindsay, Mitchell, Andrew and Kamla; daughters in law, Peggy and Jan, sister-in-law, Dianne; brothers-in-laws, Larry, Len, Brad, Rod and Rob Letellier; along with several beloved nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Roberts Funeral Homes, Bruce Chapel East (2739 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala 732-9944) on Saturday (Dec. 21st) at 2:30PM. Refreshments at the Moose Lodge #1199 to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred by family.
A private interment in Minnesota at Lake Shamineau Cabin with family and cherished friends June 2014.
