Dunnellon - Glenn Malcolm Spencer, 96, died peacefully July 15, 2014 at his home in Dunnellon, Florida. He had lived in Dunnellon since 1989.
He lived and worked in Crescent City, California. He served in the Army during World War II in San Francisco, New Guinea, and the Philippines. For his exceptional service he was awarded the Pacific Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal with Bronze Star. During his overseas tours, Glenn wrote hundreds of poems and shared them with family and friends. He spent his career as a dispatcher with Pacific Corporation.
In California, he served as a Del Norte County School Board member for many years and was active in the Smith River Kiwanis. He and his wife traveled across the country playing golf at various courses. He also volunteered at the American Legion Post #58 in Dunnellon.
