Ocala - John Blanco, 96, passed away on December 21, 2013 at ORMC. Born January 3, 1917 in Curwensville, PA to Frank and Grace Blanco, he was the one of twelve children.
John was most proud of his service in the military and his family. He enlisted in the Army in 1935, serving until 1945. He fought in World War II and received several battlefield citations. He was commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant during his service by Lt. General Patton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Inez, his sons, Louis and Johnny Blanco.
He is survived by four children: Lucia Bianca of Burbank, CA; Rodney Blanco of Westford, MA; Cynthia Carey of Ocala, FL; and Michael Blanco of Bend, OR; ten grandchildren: Felicia Lane and Christina Lane, Simon Blanco, Ryan and Heidi Blanco, Ty, Jarrett, and Elora Blanco, Kyle and Evan Carey; and eight great-grandchildren.
