Summerfield - Joseph Albert McMichael, 93, of Summerfield, Florida passed away December 16, 2013 at Lady Lake Specialty Care Lady Lake, Florida. He was born on May 27, 1920 in Barrytown, New York to William and Annie McMichael.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. During the war, he stormed the beaches at Normandy, liberated Paris, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Purple Heart recipient. After the war, he attended the Philadelphia College of Horology, he eventually owned and operated McMichael Watch and Jewelry Store in Red Hook, NY.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 44 years, Helen Marian McMichael daughter JoAnn Levy of Bradenton, FL; son Joseph W. McMichael of Pinson, AL; daughter Debra Ann Tetro, of Germantown, NY; step-daughter Holly Davis, of Bellevue, WA; step-son Robert Irons, of Daytona, FL, seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Annie McMichael, sister Jessie Leon, and brother Billy McMichael
The family will receive friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview on 12/18/2013 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM on 12/19/2013 at Gracepointe Baptist Church. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gracepointe Baptist Church School Scholarship Fund.
