LYNNWOOD S., 63
Ocala - Vietnam Veteran, Lynnwood S. Watson (Lynn), 63, of Ocala, Florida passed away the morning of Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Munroe Regional Medical Center after a long fight with lung cancer.
His wife, Lisa Kaye (Perkins) Watson, survives. They were married on April 12, 1980 and celebrated 32 years of marriage together. This year would make 33.
Born May 5, 1949, in Furnace, Kentucky, he was the son of Arthur J. Watson and Susie E. Meadows Watson. His siblings include six brothers and four sisters.
Lynn served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Lynn worked as a painter and plasterer until he retired for good in 2005. He then pursued his hobbies of spending quality time with his wife and sons, fishing, and woodworking in his "Lynn Wood" shop.
Lynn leaves behind two sons, Sgt Nicholas (Ashlee) Watson of Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Jeffrey Watson of Ocala, Florida; and two grandchildren, Noah Andrew and Khloe Reneé-Rose Watson, also of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He is also survived by sisters, Wavelene (Roger) Taulbee, Juanita (Gary) Tipton, and Nellie Alcorn and brothers: Gene (Eva) Watson, Paul (Phyllis) Watson, and Elzy (Innas) Watson. Also left behind is sister-in-law, Connie Williams of Ocala, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Susie Watson; his sister, Frances Springs; and his three brothers: Harold, Arthur Jr., and Donald Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, with Rev. Daryl Allen officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time.
The family would like to send special thanks to Dr. Janz, Dr. Gopalan, Dr. Lightsey, and the medical staff at Shands at UF, in Gainesville, Florida, for providing the best compassion, care and quality of life for Lynn to spend his last days with his family.
