Belleview - Milton Elmer Hames, 89, of Belleview, Florida passed away February 24, 2014 at Legacy House Ocala, Florida.
He was born on May 9, 1924 in Belleview, Florida to Winters and Mary Eleanor Hames. He was the owner and operator of Belleview Realty. Mr. Hames is the longest active member of First Baptist Church of Belleview where he was active in the Helping Hands Ministry, and taught Sunday School for the two year olds.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for his action in the wars. He was formerly active in the American Legion, Rotary Club, and the VFW.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Milton Jr. and Georgette Hames of Belleview; brothers Donald Hames of Belleview; Gene Hames of Summerfield, Dean Hames of Pedro; and Peek Hames of Belleview; sisters Violet Law of Tye, TX and Mary Ann McIntyre of Belleview; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruby Nell Hames; daughter Rosemary Hames Stormant; brothers Frank Hames and Winters B. Hames; parents Winters and Mary Hames.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm on March 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Belleview with Rev. Ronald S. Walker and Rev. Adam Hammond officiating. Interment will be at Belleview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Belleview Helping Hands Ministry. Condolences may be left at:
