Davie, FL - - Phyllis F. Thompson, aged 99 and formerly of Ocala Fla., died in Davie, FL., Thursday, November 28th 2013, where she was living with her daughter.
She was born November 15th 1914, in Mercer North Dakota, daughter of Fred and Minnie Freeberg. She graduated from Jamestown College, attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and received her Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan.
She was married for 64 years to Lt. Col. Robert M. Thompson, U.S. Army, who passed away in January 2006. As a military wife, she lived in many different places, including eight years in Germany. She loved music, bridge, golf and the outdoors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, and brothers Merwyn and Conrad. She is survived by her three children: Alan (Diane) Thompson of Derwood Md., Steve (Linda) Thompson of Kernersville NC, Susan (Tom) Sitzberger of Davie Fl., five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Special thanks to her daughter Susan and son-in-law Tom Sitzberger for taking such loving and gentle care of Phyllis in their home, for the last eight years.
A memorial service will be held at the Ocala First Methodist Church, 11am on December 19th 2013. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
