Ocala - William F. Rose, 94 of Ocala passed away on May 22, 2013.
He was born March 19, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA to Helen Barber and William Rose. As a young man he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Battleship Wyoming in the North Atlantic theater during World War II. Prior to enlisting in the Navy he met his wife of 66 years, Yolanda DiRenzo.
After returning from the Navy he resumed his position with the Pennsylvania Railroad. William and Yolanda traveled extensively for his work with the railroad. In 1979 he retired and moved to Ocala, FL. Soon after retirement, he and Yolanda traveled the world, with their favorite places being Rome and Hawaii.
William (Bill) is predeceased by his loving wife Yolanda; sister Irma; and brothers David, Earl and Harold. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bill was well known at many of the Ocala area restaurants as well as the, "Too Your Health Spa", which he attended regularly with his nephew Dennis until two weeks prior to his passing.
A memorial service will be part of the morning service at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 5730 SE 28th Street, Ocala, FL 34480 on Sunday morning, May 26 at 10:30 am and all who knew Bill are welcome to attend. A fellowship in memory of Bill will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Bill's favorite charities, the ASPCA, , or the Salvation Army.
