Young, Mary Jo
The Lord has called Mary Jo Young to her Eternal Life, Wednesday, November 27, 2013, after a courageous battle of mesothelioma, to spend her new life with her family and friends who have gone before her. She was born on June 18, 1949, in Oconto, to the late Arthur and Albertha (Lamirande) Young. She has lived all of her life in Oconto. Mary Jo worked at the former Bond Pickle Company for 32 years, Cruiser Yachts, Brothers III, and Oconto Schools. Mary Jo "Maxine" loved life, celebrating different occasions wearing one of her special hats she created, she loved her small town, and they loved her as well. She is a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Oconto, serving on funeral luncheons, also a member of Oconto Elks Lodge, a honorary special member of the Grumpy Ole Ladies, ice fishing group in Trego, WI. The Grumpy Ole Ladies ice fish in February and raise money for the Relay for Life in Shell Lake, WI in June, remembering special friends and family who have lost their life to cancer. Mary Jo loved visiting the lake, and her favorite past time was shopping, especially in Spooner, WI. She attended St. Joseph School (Holy Trinity) and a 1968 graduate of Oconto High School. Her spirit lives on in all of us.
She is survived by her brother William Young, Green Bay; sisters, Charlotte Young (special friend Jean Hanson), Trego; Jean Young, Oconto; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, cousins and countless friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Gary Young.
