WADSWORTH - Allan J. Broadhurst, 88, of Wadsworth died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Hospice of Medina County.

He was born May 3, 1924, in New Philadelphia to Albert and Agnes (Breyer) Broadhurst and lived in Rittman from 1962 until 1994, at which time he moved to Wadsworth.

Allan was a graduate of the Class of 1942 of New Philadelphia High School; attended Ohio University and Yale University; and was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

He was former President and CEO of Chippewa Valley Bank in Rittman and was in the banking profession for 64 years. Allan was Rittman Citizen of the Year in 1965; a member of the Rittman Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International; a member, Elder and Treasurer of Milton Presbyterian Church; a member and Past President of Rawiga Country Club; a member and Past-President of Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Board; a Board member of the Greater Wayne County Foundation; and a Chairman of the United Way in Rittman and Dover.

He married Annabelle (Maurer) Broadhurst on December 12, 1945, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, David (Deborah) Broadhurst of Stafford, Va. and Patty (Dave) Gish of Doylestown. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kristen (Kevin) Frederick, of Columbus, Mark (Misty) Gish of Wooster, Kelly (Jonathon) Schneider of Dumfries, Va., Stacy (Steve) Hart of Dover, De., Seth (Stacy) Broadhurst, Fairmont, W. Va., Kimberly (Patrick) Fogarty of Fairfax, Va.; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Mya, Macey, Addisyn, Jared, Grant, and Ella. His parents and brother, Robert Broadhurst, died previously.

Allan enjoyed golfing and photography. He and Annabelle enjoyed spending their winters in Naples, Florida, where they made many friends.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Noon at the Milton Presbyterian Church, 250 North St., Rittman, OH 44270, with Rev. Reford Nash officiating. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services, 11 A.M. to 12 Noon, at the church. Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 10 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, with military honors.

Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman is handling arrangements.
