Carl Lee Wilkinson

Carl L. Wilkinson, 90, passed away on November 16, 2013.

He was born July 5, 1923 in Akron to Virgil and Elizabeth Wilkinson. He served in the U.S. Army as a Medic during World War II obtaining six Bronze Stars and was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Carl retired as a machinist from Reuther Mold. He was also an artist, graduating from the Akron Art Institute. Carl liked to tell jokes and enjoyed teasing people. He also liked to bowl, golf and loved his dog Toby.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Edna, who was the mother of his children, Virginia, and Sarah Thomas; brothers, Hiram and Harry Wilkinson; sister, Betty Jane (Leo) Minor; stepson, Ronzil Thomas. He is survived by his sons, C. Mark (Wendy) Wilkinson and Dale (Helen) Wilkinson; daughters, Joyce Wilkinson and Rosemary Wilkinson; brother, Herbert (Lyn) Wilkinson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Wilkinson; stepsons, Gary (Barbara) and James Thomas; 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m., Pastor Michael Somerville officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Military honors to be provided by Firestone VFW Post 3383. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , 4500 Rockside Rd., Independence, OH 44131 in memory of Carl.
