CLINTON -- Charles E. Batten, 81, went home to be with Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2013.
A resident of Clinton since 1960, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Charles retired from Roadway Express. He was a member of Teamsters Local #24, Teamsters Local #24 Retirees Club and Norton Baptist Church. Charles enjoyed his good times he spent with the Norton McDonald's coffee crew.
Preceded in death by his parents, Hershell and Bernice Batton; step-mother, Bertha Batton and grandson, Jayson Mullett; survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary; son, Steve (Michelle); daughter, Linda Batten Mullett; grandchildren, Nikki (James) Cuvelier, Christine (Dan) Butti, Jessica Batten; brother, Tommy (Margaret) Batten; step-sisters, Wilda Mace and Carolyn (Frank) Morehead; special friend, Bob Mullett; his faithful four-legged companion, "Ricci"; along with many other relatives and friends.
A special thank you to Annie, Jessica, Megan and Courtney from Summa Hospice for all the care and support that he and his family received.
Funeral service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Pastor Dwight Strickland officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors conducted by Firestone VFW #3383. Calling hours Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Summa at Home-Hospice, 444 N. Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44310.
