Craig T. Hemsley, 67, of Jackson Township passed away April 3, 2014 following a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer.
Craig was a 1965 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam as a combat veteran and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in 1995 and from United Steelworkers in 2008 where he served as an international representative for the union. Craig loved traveling to the Outer Banks and to Europe, Ohio State football, playing golf, fishing in Canada, talking sports and politics and spending time with his friends and family.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eva Hemsley. He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Thomas, Jeffrey and Jason (Jaclyn); grandson, Blake; sister, Diana (Marvin) Smith.
Visitation will be held from NOON to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd., Akron, OH 44319 (SR 619).
