LAKE MILTON -- Cynthia Fiol, age 62, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital Medical Center, Main Campus.
Cynthia was born July 11, 1951, in Howland Ohio to parents Harrison and Beverly (Jenkins) Dearth.
After graduating from Howland High School, Cynthia earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati. She completed her formal education with a Master's degree from New York University. While traveling in New York Cynthia met Jeffrey Fiol. They were married on November 1, 1980. Cynthia and Jeffrey had two children, a daughter, Carrie, and a son Jared.
Cynthia was born to be an educator. It was her calling. She was accepting to any and all persons and their ideas. She always felt that to be a great teacher she must be unselfish and always continue to learn.
Cynthia taught Special Education in Harlem New York before moving back to Ohio. She continued her teaching career in the Jackson Milton school district, where her most important experiences were teaching Special Education. She retired in 2013 but never lost her passion for teaching and learning.
Cynthia was a very adventurous woman. She travelled all over the United States visiting every state except two. She made several of these cross country trips on a motorcycle.
Cynthia was also an accomplished piano player and choir director. She was a great influence to all of her students, to anyone she worked with, and most importantly, to her loving children. She never stopped believing in them. They were her treasured loves.
Cynthia was a true Cleveland sports fan. She loved her Browns and her Indians. And as a true Cleveland sports fan she disliked the Yankees and the Steelers.
Cynthia leaves to cherish loving memories her husband, Jeffrey; her daughter, Carrie Fiol and fiancé Adam Miller of Poland, Ohio; son, Jared Fiol of Parma, Ohio; mother, Beverly Dearth of Tallmadge Ohio; and brother, Miles Brent (Deborah) Dearth of Lexington South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harrison Dearth.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lane Family Funeral Home's Austintown Chapel on Mahoning Ave. in Austintown, Ohio.
The service will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Pricetown United Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard Ohltown Rd., Newton Falls, Ohio.
