David Osborne Obituary
David Osborne

Dave was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, role model, and a soldier. Regardless of the role, he strived to be the best. His God-given talents ensured he was!

Dave was born in Akron, Ohio on May 31, 1974. He was a proud graduate of Jackson High School in Canton, Ohio, Class of 1992. Dave was a member of National Honor Society and earned varsity letters in wrestling and football (#38). Army ROTC awarded Dave a full ROTC scholarship to Tulane. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology in 1996. Following graduation, Dave was selected and commissioned into the U.S. Army Chemical Core. Dave has honorably served for over 17 years both stateside and overseas in Germany, Bosnia, Korea, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. He served on Active Duty, the Army Reserves, and in the Army National Guard earning the rank of Major and functional area of Information Operations. Dave earned an MBA in business (Troy State University) and was a doctorial candidate at time of death (University of Phoenix). Dave was employed for Analytical Services for over 11 years as a Senior Analyst, specializing in Strategic Planning, Homeland Defense, and Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Dave and Erin met in Waigwan, Korea at Camp Carrol in 2000 while both were serving active duty tours in Korea. The two happily married in 2005 in Potomac, Maryland, moved briefly to Midland, Texas, then to Rockville, Maryland. Dave's greatest joy was witnessing the birth of his daughter Alice in 2007 and sons Timothy in 2009, and Patrick in 2012. Dave was an active and loving father. He reveled in each child's milestone, individuality, and brilliance. His children miss him greatly, but they keep him in their hearts.

Dave was diagnosed with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma in May 2012. Dave bravely fought the cancer for 19 months until he passed away peacefully at home in Rockville, Maryland on Friday, 15 November 2013. He was 39 years old.

In addition to his beloved Erin and three children, Dave leaves behind his mother, Kathryn (Bill) Cooper of Akron, Ohio; father, Dave (Kathryn) of Medina, Ohio; sisters, Celeste (Michael) Shaffer of Hartville, Ohio; and Amanda (Jason) Monnard of Akron, Ohio; brother, Brian Osborne (Rick White) of Akron, Ohio; stepsister, Abby (Matt) Anglum of Nashville, Tenn.; stepbrothers, Christopher (Abby), Kyle, and Kevin Parker, all of Akron, Ohio, and Todd Cooper of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Erin's parents, Michael and Mary Ellen Barnhart of North Potomac, Md.; brothers-in-law, David (Erica) Barnhart of Olney, Md., and Michael (Miriam) Barnhart of Baltimore, Md.; Kathryn Osborne's mother, Claire Klopp of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
