Douglas D. Neumann Obituary

MUNROE FALLS -- Douglas Donovan Neumann, 84 years old, of Munroe Falls, Ohio, passed away on March 27, 2013 following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Chicago, Ill. on June 12, 1928 to Robert Louis and Rose Alice (Pratt) Neumann. Doug graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree in business administration. He served his country in the Finance Corp of the U.S. Army and had a long career in corporate finance for the auto, truck and transportation industries. At the end of his career, he opened an automotive repair business in Cuyahoga Falls, indulging his lifelong passion for fixing cars. He enjoyed over two decades of retirement surrounded by his grandchildren who were the joy of his golden years.

Doug loved fishing, camping, hiking and bicycling. He and his wife, Normagene, kept bees and maintained an extensive vegetable garden every summer. They loved to travel, visiting Argentina, Alaska, the Caribbean and many other places throughout their lives. Doug was extremely well read on current issues and enjoyed a good debate about politics with anyone who could match his intellectual prowess. He loved to laugh and took great pleasure in time spent with family.

Doug is survived by his wife of 64 years, Normagene (Bray) Neumann; daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Tinianow; son, Douglas (Elizabeth) Neumann; sister, Betty Kagy Mosher; brother, Robert (Connie) Neumann; grandchildren, Hallie Neumann, Sam Tinianow, Kellee (Geoff) Lewis, Zachary Neumann, Jeremy Tinianow, Hilary Neumann, Jessie Neumann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private interment and celebration of life will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice of Akron General Hospital. (http://www.vnsa.com/portal/page/portal/vnsa/vnsa) or the Sierra Club (www.sierraclub.org).
