Duane Calvert Stormer

MEDINA -- Duane Calvert Stormer, 68, died March 4, 2014.

Born in Wadsworth on January 7, 1946 to Kenneth and Martha (Calvert) Stormer, he grew up in River Styx and graduated from Wadsworth High School. Duane proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he received The Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star Attachment, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a member of Wadsworth VFW Post 1089.

He was a lifelong outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, sitting on the picnic table and roasting corn with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughters, Tina L. Stormer of Medina and Dawn K. (Joe) Stormer-Falkenberg of Valley City; son, Tim D. Scott of Akron; grandchildren, Jaden Stormer-Falkenberg, Kalee Falkenberg, Kara Clark and Logan Stormer; mother, Martha Stormer of River Styx; siblings, John (Sandy) Stormer of Mentor, Marcella Ritzman of Columbia Station, Dennis (Cheryl) Stormer of Barberton and Dean (Nancy) Stormer of Creston; nieces, Carol, Kathy, Karen and Misty; nephews, Derek and Derry Dean and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; son, Tommy Scott; and nephews, Jim and Jeff Stormer.

The family will receive friends Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street in Wadsworth, where funeral service will be held Monday at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with full military honors rendered by Wadsworth VFW Post 1089. In lieu of flowers, please help a Vietnam era veteran so they will not be the forgotten ones.
