Edmund Blazewick, 87, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Cleveland.

Born in Akron on February 23, 1926 to the late John and Mary Blazewich, Ed was a lifelong area resident. He served as a Marine in World War II, and married Ellen Bensko in 1947. Ed was a parishioner at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. He worked as a machinist for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 31 years. Ed was a past commander of the PLAV Post 32, a member of the F&AM Blue Wayfarer Lodge, York Rite, and the VFW Post 3383.

Edmund was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen and son, Stephen. He is survived by son, Edmund II (Miriam); daughter-in-law, Sandy Blazewick; and grandsons, Stephen (Manu), Brian and Kevin Blazewick.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home, KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a Parastas will take place at 2:30 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Monday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 755 S. Cleveland Ave., Mogadore, OH 44260.
